Preclinical imaging systems provide detailed images of the brain to assess functional changes that occur as a result of diseases or as a response to treatment

MRI and PET instruments enable researchers to detect and monitor changes in the brain to assess common neurological disorders, from traumatic brain injury to stroke.

In the field of neuroscience, researchers use preclinical imaging techniques to improve their understanding of how a wide range of neurological diseases and disorders may be diagnosed and treated.

The goal of applying these techniques is to shed light on the structure, function and molecular biology of the brain, as well as abnormalities in its organization and connectivity that underlie neurological conditions.

Neuroimaging has enabled researchers to detect, identify, characterize and monitor changes occurring in the brain following traumatic brain injury. It is also used for the assessment of stroke, as well as to develop potential treatment strategies and approaches to prevent further strokes.

Bruker’s MRI instruments provide highly detailed images that enable pre-clinical researchers to study small animal models of neurological diseases and disorders ranging from multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases to stroke, brain hemorrhage and brain tumor.

Bruker's MRI instruments enabbles functional MRI (fMRI), allowing scientists to see which areas of the brain are active during certain cognitive or motor tasks and to assess functional changes that occur in the brain as a result of diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and epilepsy or as a response to injury or treatment.

Using Bruker’s PET instruments, researchers can visualize biological processes that may be causing a neurological disorder and to investigate potential treatments. PET can be used to detect metabolic processes in brain tissue and provide a glimpse of the disease process.
