SCiLS™ Privacy Policy

Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices with respect to SCiLS™ Lab crash reports and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. Please also see the general Bruker Privacy Notice for further information.

The Information We Collect

If SCiLS™ Lab crashes the software collects information about the error and allows you to send this information to the SCiLS™ team for future product improvements. In the “Error Report” dialog, you can send a detailed error description. The information collected in the error report includes:

  • The log file of the current session (contains application events, opened file paths, license serial number, and the application version information)
  • The crash dump file (contains the application memory state which helps to reproduce the error)
  • The crashrpt.xml file (contains operating system information)
  • The application window screenshot (contains a screenshot of the main application window at the moment of crash)
  • Additional information you explicitly provide (email address and your description of the crash)

The Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Neither any data or processing results nor the SCiLS™ Lab files (.h5, .sl, .slx/.sbd)
  • No screenshot of the whole desktop and screenshots of other applications.

The Way We Use Information

We use the information you provide when sending a crash report only to improve the software. We do not share this information with outside parties. We use provided email addresses exclusively to connect to you to obtain more information about the error circumstances. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above.

Our Commitment to Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
