UCSD Crystallography Users' Meeting

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Crystallography Event from December 5th to December 7th at the UCSD Crystallography Facility in San Diego, CA. 

This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for learning, networking, and hands-on experience in the field of crystallography.

Preliminary Program:

Thursday, December 5th (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)

  • 1:00 PM: Visit the Gemological Institute of America Headquarters.
  • 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Data collection at the UCSD Crystallography Facility. Please let us know if you plan to bring samples.
  • Software installation on personal laptops.
  • Difficult structures hackathon (BYOF - Bring Your Own Frames).

Friday, December 6th (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

  • Lectures from a diverse mix of academic and industrial speakers.
  • Topics include small molecule pharmaceuticals, gemstones, and macromolecules.
  • If you are interested in giving a 20–30-minute talk, please let us know.

Saturday, December 7th (8:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

  • Hands-on workshops with limited seats. Please indicate your interest in attending.
  • APEX 5 tutorial and deep dive presented by Bruker and users.
    •    Electron diffraction data processing with APEX 5.
    •    Correlated frames and XRD data collection on the CMOS detector.
    •    High-pressure data processing (RLAT-SAINT).
    •    Modulated structures indexing and integration.
    •    Sample in a crystalline matrix (crystal in crystal).
  • Introduction to Jana 2020 for 3D single crystal refinement.
