BRUKER and ESG R&D Cooperation Successfully Integrate Chemical Detector into the UMAT

UMAT (Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter) with chemical detector

LEIPZIG, GERMANY - July 15th, 2013 - BRUKER Detection and ESG Elektroniksystem-und Logistik-GmbH have successfully initiated an industrial funded R&D (research & development) program to mount chemical and radiological detection equipment in to the UMAT (Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter). The build stage of the project is complete and the second stage that includes aerial tests will begin shortly.

The project was established in response to clear emerging needs in the detection market for a CBRN UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). The initial phase of design and assembly, combining the ESG UMAT and the Bruker µRAID chemical detector has been successfully accomplished. This initial stage also included fully integration of a C2 (command & control) and data management capability. It is foreseen that on completion of the chemical aerial tests, a radiological component will be added.

This world premier project will be displayed at the BRUKER-ESG booth S4-210 at DSEI over the period 10 – 13 Sept 2013 at Excel in London, UK.
