BRUKER NANO ANALYTICS PRESENTS:

Mercury Analysis in Food, Environmental and Medical Samples with TXRF

On-Demand Session - 55 Minutes

Detecting Mercury with Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence

Mercury is a metal that is released into the environment from both natural (mainly volcanic) and anthropogenic (mainly coal fired plants) sources. Once released, mercury undergoes a series of complex transformations and cycles between atmosphere, ocean and land, always interfering with the food chain and influencing human health via aerosols. Fish and other seafood, non-alcoholic beverages and composite food are the most important contributors to inorganic mercury dietary exposure. Additionally, mercury is still used as an ingredient in cosmetics, especially in some Asian countries while forbidden or strictly limited in other countries.

This webinar will focus on improved levels of detection of most modern TXRF spectrometers for the analysis of mercury in a broad range of samples including non-alcoholic beverages, fish, rice, medical samples and cosmetics. The ease-of-use and rapid preparation and measurement process will be demonstrated shortly. Whether you are interested in method development for environmental monitoring, quality testing of food and cosmetics or current developments in clinical research, this webinar will give you the information you need on the capabilities of the (TXRF) technique.

Who Should Attend

  • Lab managers and experienced technicians from governmental, industrial and service labs
  • Quality managers in the food and cosmetic industry
  • Scientists involved with biological and clinical sciences
  • Analytical experts at public institutes for environmental research
Mercury analysis is relevant for environmental monitoring, quality testing of food and cosmetics or current developments in clinical research.
