Course Objectives

In this class, we will talk about image quality and PeakForce Quantitative Nanomechanical Mapping (PF-QNM).


Image quality session will cover in depth theory of contact mode, Tapping Mode, and PeakForce Tapping with ScanAsyst, along with a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each mode. There also will be instruction on how to optimize the scanning parameters to improve the image quality.


This session will discuss common imaging artifacts and how to recognize and prevent them.


In PeakForce QNM session, we will talk about theory, procedure, and offline analysis of force curves, including various contact mechanics theories for material modulus measurement with AFM. This session also includes PeakForce QNM theory, detailed QNM calibration procedures, and techniques for improving QNM accuracy.


In fluid imaging session, we will talk about how to set up typical fluid experiments, and also discuss how to calibrate the QNM parameters in fluid.
