SPECTRA edx - Application Training

About the training

This hands-on course applies to users of SPECTRAedx version 2 software with an S2 RANGER EDXRF spectrometer.

 

Participants will learn the fundamentals of energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, S2 RANGER hardware, and qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis using SPECTRAedx version 2 software. 

 

Course Outline and Agenda

Monday, 10am - 5pm

  • Welcome and Introduction
  • Theory: Basics in XRF, Instrument Parameters
  • Exercise: How to start SPECTRAedx

 

Tueday, 9am - 5pm

  • Theory: Quantitative Methods
  • Exercise: e.g. Stainless Steel Calibration

 

Wednesday, 9am - 5pm

  • Theory: Sample Preparation
  • Exercise: Sample Preparation in the Lab
  • Theory: Standardless Analysis
  • Exercise: Standardless Analysis

 

Thursday, 9am - 5pm

  • Hands on: Set up a calibration with the S2 RANGER
  • Wrap-up, Course Evaluation and Closing Remarks

Class size

Class sizes are limited to 12 people, so that each participant receives individual attention and participates in all hands-on activities. Early registration is encouraged as registrations are accepted on a first-come/first-served basis.

 

Attendance Fee

The course price includes course materials, lunch and refreshments. Travel and accommodation are not included.

 

Cancellation

Registrations cancelled within 10 working days prior to the start of the course are subject to a cancellation fee of 30 %. Registered persons not attending the course without having given prior notice will be fully charged. We reserve the right to cancel a course if there are less than three registrants by the registration deadline.
