Structure and composition analysis are crucial for understanding any material. Particularly the structure on the nanoscale and below can determine many materials properties and behaviors and is thus of utmost importance for understanding these properties and the respective development and testing of new applications and devices e.g. in materials, life science and medicine.

Fast chemical analysis from the mm to the atomic scale can be carried out by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) in the electron microscope (SEM/FIB/STEM). The wide spatial resolution window is a crucial condition for chemically characterizing not only well defined nanostructures, nanoparticles or even identifying single atoms, but also their surroundings and distribution in a larger matrix. Using electron transparent samples ensures high spatial resolution in imaging and spectroscopy.

This 30-minute webinar will discuss analysis approaches for EDS on the nanoscale in materials research and life science. Available single and multi-detector technology for SEM and S/TEM will be explained using analysis examples. It will be illustrated how this technology has substantially evolved in recent years. The webinar will be rounded off by an additional 15-minute Q&A session where our experts will answer your questions.
