Keeping Connected during Lockdown

Many people who have found themselves working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic are having to embrace the daily challenges of remaining connected, communicating remotely and working with new technology.

We are all quickly learning new ways of working and realizing that social distancing does not mean feeling disconnected at work. Here at Bruker, we have launched the "Workplace Selfies" and "Success Stories" initiatives. Employees are all encouraged to stay connected and get involved by providing pictures and stories that show their lockdown experiences.

Managing Teams

We believe that adding a personal touch to your management style can go a long way. It's a great way to remind yourself that we're all going through this together.

The Workplace Selfies initiative aims to promote a sense of togetherness and a feeling of belonging. Photographs of colleagues working in similar circumstances help offset feelings of isolation. The aim is to collect selfies from the home office as well as from the production sites where all employees have been trained in safe physical distancing at work?

We're encouraging all employees to share their photos of pets, their home-working station, view of their garden, or even what they're having for dinner to help develop a sense of shared experience - and we're finding that we are getting to know colleagues from around the world better.

Communication

Checking in with teams can help motivate and add structure to the working day. Our Bruker Success Stories initiative serves to promote the positives. There has been so much negative and upsetting news over the last few months that sharing positive stories can help create a happier mindset - and a more engaged working environment.

Even in these challenging times, there are some fantastic highlights that demonstrate creative thinking and commitment to getting the job done. Thanks to the tireless efforts and support by our customers and partners at CERM, as well as by our field service engineers, Bruker was able to carry out this first ultra-high field NMR 1.2 GHz installation while adhering to COVID-19 safety guidelines.

From our point of view, it has never been more important to create a sense of solidarity. It has always been part of the Bruker culture to find alternative solutions to any challenge, and we believe that we will emerge from this crisis stronger than before. We have an incredibly supportive culture and this is evidenced through our positive and can-do attitude during these challenging times.
