Training

Basic 1D and 2D NMR

Overview

Info:

Introduction to Bruker NMR spectrometer operation and concepts of NMR spectroscopy.

Topics:

  • Introduction to NMR concepts
  • Working with Bruker hardware and software (TopSin 4)
  • Acquisition, processing, plotting and interpretation of 1D and 2D spectra
  • Optimizing conditions for acquisition and processing

Remarks:

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the operation of Bruker NMR spectrometers. Basic concepts of NMR spectroscopy, NMR spectrometer operation, data acquisition and processing using TopSpin 4 will be presented in lectures. Practical sessions will cover spectrometer setup and routine 1D NMR experiments, as well as homo- and heteronuclear 2D NMR experiments, principally on 1H, 13C, and 15N nuclei (COSY, NOESY, TOCSY, ROESY; HSQC, HMQC, HMBC; selective 1D experiments and basic solvent suppression). In addition, troubleshooting of common spectral artefacts and interpretation of spectra of small organic molecules will be discussed. A time slot to cover other topics of interest for the participants will also be provided.

Prerequisite Qualification:

Open to all Bruker NMR spectrometer users.
