Bruker continues to invest in people development

On December 3, 2020, the Legal and HR teams across Bruker attended a workshop on having courageous workplace conversations.

Bruker attendees spanned the globe, from the United States, Europe and APAC.  The workshop was led by a team of professionals from Bentley University’s Center for Women in Business.  This workshop was designed as a tool to help employees understand how to have difficult but productive workplace conversations. Dialogue is reciprocal, respectful, and compassionate, and can often be related to race, gender, or power. Such conversations require honesty, openness, and vulnerability.

Participants left this session prepared to engage in difficult conversations across identity differences, roles, and functions. Bruker employees who attended this interactive workshop:

  • Explored the variables that impact the success of a conversation, including cultural competence, power dynamics, and conflict styles.
  • Observed live demonstrations, allowing attendees to critique the effectiveness of the difficult conversations in real time.
  • Shared a framework with clear guidelines and realistic workplace scenarios, receiving in-the-moment feedback.

Bruker attendees also received a post-workshop toolkit to enable them to incorporate their learnings into their daily work interactions.
