Miniscope and Multi-Site Miniscope Webinars

Sex Cells: Investigating Sex Differences with Neuronal Imaging

Learn how to use miniscopes to study sex differences in freely behaving animals

Illuminate the process behind a sex-inclusive experiment

During this webinar, Dr. Waylin Yu discusses how he designs and runs single-cell imaging experiments to study neural circuits in different sexes. Learn about key considerations, challenges, and the importance of creating sex-inclusive experiments while using miniscopes for in vivo calcium imaging during free behavior.

Presenter’s Abstract

During this webinar, I review how sex differences have been illuminated by imaging technology. I cover important considerations and challenges for imaging in a sex-inclusive manner through the lens of my own research journey using miniscopes to study pain and addiction circuits in the brain. This webinar provides unique insights on how to best design and implement a single-cell imaging experiment in freely moving animals for male and female subjects, with the intention of promoting more equitable approaches in your neural circuit discovery efforts.
