The Bruker Light-Sheet Image Competition invites scientists, researchers, and imaging enthusiasts the opportunity to showcase the beauty and innovation of scientific imaging. Share your stunning light-sheet microscopy images and contribute to advancing science through art. A Bruker panel will judge the submissions and select winners for a number of prizes. Additionally, images will be featured in our marketing materials, website, and social media, giving you and your research worldwide recognition.

Eligibility

  1. The competition is open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
  2. To capture the images, participants must use a Bruker Luxendo light-sheet microscope.
  3. Images must be original work created by the participant.
  4. Employees of Bruker, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
  5. Participants may submit up to three (3) entries.
  6. Individuals working with patients or submitting patient-derived images are not eligible to enter.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Submit high-resolution images in JPEG or TIFF format.
  2. File size should not exceed 20 MB per image.
  3. Alterations are allowed, but the committee may request your photo's original file/RAW/negative.
  4. Images taken by someone other than the participant are not allowed.
  5. Labels or annotations are allowed, but the committee may request your photo's original file/RAW/negative.

Each submission must include:

  • Details on the machine and, if applicable, which tools (such as photomanipulation) are used.
  • The image file name must include title of the image and your name.
  • In the “Message” field, include a short description (less than 200 words) explaining the sample, scientific context, and technology used.
  • Confirmation that the participant owns the copyright or has appropriate permissions for the submitted image.

Judging Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of Bruker scientists and marketing experts based on:

  1. Scientific significance
  2. Visual appeal and artistic quality
  3. Originality and innovation
  4. Clarity of the accompanying description

Terms and Conditions

  1. By submitting an image, participants grant Bruker non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to use the image for marketing, educational, and promotional purposes, with proper attribution.
  2. The participant retains copyright but agrees to allow Bruker to edit, crop, or modify images for perpetual use in various media formats and commercial use.
  3. Submissions must not contain offensive, inappropriate, or plagiarised content. Bruker reserves the right to disqualify such entries.
  4. It is the responsibility of participants to ensure that the images do not infringe any laws or the submitters' university/facility institution.
  5. Bruker is not responsible for any technical issues or lost submissions.
  6. The decision of the judging panel is final and binding.
  7. Previous winners are allowed to submit in subsequent rounds.

Privacy Notice

We would like to inform you about the processing of your personal data in the context of this competition in accordance with Art. 13 GDPR: Luxendo GmbH, Im Breitspiel 2/4, 69126 Heidelberg is responsible for data processing.

The processing of your name and your artwork is based on Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. b) GDPR, as this data is required for participation in the competition.

We reserve the right to publish your submission on our website and social media.

In accordance with the statutory provisions, you have the right to request information about your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR) and, in certain cases, the right to request the correction (Art. 16 GDPR), deletion (Art. 17 GDPR) or restriction of the processing (Art. 18 GDPR) of this data, as well as the right to request data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.
