Visualizing the Spatial Landscape of the Brain Endocannabinoidome by MALDI-2 Imaging

August 20, 2025
10:00 am EST, 4:00 pm CEST

Overview

Endocannabinoids (eCBs) are endogenous lipid messengers that interact with cannabinoid receptors CB1/CB2 and play a critical role in the central nervous system, often altered in neurological disorders. The low concentration in tissue posts a challenge to ionize and spatially analyze these compounds. Applying a laser-induced post-ionization (MALDI-2) approach improves sensitivity and limit of detection. After optimization, this method was applied to a mouse model of mild traumatic brain injury.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of the benefits that MALDI Imaging brings to neuropharmacology applications
  • Learn applications where MALDI-2 enhances sensitivity
  • Understand the technological benefits of MALDI-2

Who should attend:

  • Researchers in pharmacology that want to add a spatial dimension to their research
  • Investigators that want to expand their technological understanding of MALDI
