“When we bring new technology to the market, we always try to be better, faster and more cost-effective than existing technologies and that means we have the patient in focus. “
Dr. Wolfgang Pusch, EVP Microbiology & Diagnostics
Our continuous R&D activities on MALDI Biotyper® have once more resulted in an increased speed of microorganism identification by the introduction of the sample preparation accelerator, the MBT FAST™ Shuttle IVD*. This small benchtop tool provides controlled drying conditions, for optimized and faster matrix crystallization. Another speed boost will be available early 2022, with the MBT Compass HT IVD* software, boosting the analysis speed to up to 600 samples/hour.
As every year, the MALDI Biotyper® Reference Libraries have been updated by an impressive number of new species and genera, enhancing the identification performance.
Exclusively for the users of the high-end MALDI Biotyper® sirius Systems, equipped with negative ion mode, lipidomics research applications will become easier with the new MBT Lipid Xtract™ Kit** (RUO). Starting from a colony and requiring only 15 minutes, the kit facilitates easy extraction of Lipid A and its modifications, which are indicators for colistin resistance.
After spectra acquisition in negative ion mode, the dedicated MBT LipidART** RUO software module reveals the colistin resistance status of a strain instantly and even detects whether the resistance is based on chromosomal coded or plasmid coded modifications.

The new IR Biotyper® 3.1 software allows for seamless integration with the MALDI Biotyper® software, and conjoint feeding of data into the LIMS.
A major step forward for strain typing is the availability of predefined isolate classification, based on artificial neural network (ANN) models. Classification results of strain typing experiments can be visualized by powerful tools such as 3D plots.
With our continuous commitment to support the fight against COVID-19, we added critical products to our Molecular Diagnostics portfolio. These products allow diagnostics laboratories to get more reliable and faster answers than ever on COVID-19 patient samples.
The brand new GenoXtract® fleXT* enables reliable and automated extraction for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics* directly from the original patient sample with no need for extensive preparation prior to extraction. Optionally combine extraction with FluoroType® kits*, for a convenient walk-away solution tailored to the dynamic laboratory needs during and beyond the pandemic.
FluoroType® kits are validated for the use with FluoroCycler® XT*, providing end-to-end Extraction – PCR and results interpretation with the FluoroSoftware® - directly from the original patient specimen.
FluoroType® SARS-CoV-2 varID Q* brings the next level of COVID-19 diagnostics into your lab. Instead of relying on CP values, FluoroType® SARS-CoV-2 varID Q determines and reads out the viral load directly in International Units per ml with the WHO standard as a reference. Furthermore, the assay allows you to differentiate between various variants based on detecting the underlying mutations.
In combination with the established and reliable RT PCR powerhouse FluoroCycler® XT, Bruker provides an end-to-end solution to cover your COVID-19 diagnostics workflow.
Real-time PCR assays such as Bruker’s Fungiplex® IVD solutions, ensure rapid, targeted results allowing clinicians to provide fast time-to-result in fungal infection cases. The recently launched Fungiplex® Pneumocystis IVD Real-Time PCR Kit* aids in routine testing of patients at risk of Pneumocystis Pneumonia (PCP), delivering results in just over 1 hour from extracted DNA, helping clinical decision-making when time matters.
Additionally, the WHO highlights and recommends our comprehensive Tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria PCR diagnostics portfolio as well as the only Leprae diagnostic test focusing on resistance in the market. This was recently extended to FluoroType® MTBDR V2.0* which provides better and new solutions for our customers.
