RF Coils for Maximum Sensitivity

Surface Coils

The correct choice of the RF coil configuration for a given in-vivo investigation has a decesive impact on the study outcome. In general, an RF coil configuration can contain one or several individual RF coils that together form the RF coil configuration. For examinations of localized areas, a cross-coil set-up in which different RF coils are used for signal excitation and signal detection, is often the most effective. While the transmitting volume coil ensures a homogenous excitation, the receive surface coil provides maximal sensitivity at the region of interest.

To assure the highest quality of results, Bruker provides a large range of application-oriented surface coils. Surface coils with flexible cables can be placed to cover any area of the body, while circularly polarized and phased array coils are designed for optimal fit to mouse and rat anatomy. X-nuclei coils are available for practically all nuclei while ASL and optogenetic coils open up new frontiers in imaging. In addition, Bruker provides state-of-the-art multichannel array coil technology allowing parallel imaging during measurements on mouse and rat brain, head, heart, spine, and body.
