SAXS and GISAXS are powerful methods for investigating particles in the 1 nm to 0.1 µm range. From a large variety of materials, such as polymers and proteins in solution, liquid crystals, surface characteristics, powders, bulk samples, and thin films the tools not only provide information on nanoparticle sizes, shape and size distributions, but also on structural dynamics.

The ability to visualize structures being formed —strongly supported by our modern software—is the critical success factor in nanoscience and nanotechnology, particularly since visible light microscopy fails to provide information at this scale.
