Workshop: Transform Challenging EDS Measurements into Routine Analytical Work

Make Difficult EDS Measurements Easy

Join our free workshop in Berlin to learn how to simplify complex measurements for everyday analysis using the XFlash® FlatQUAD and XFlash® 7100oval detectors.

About the Workshop

Some samples pose challenges for EDS measurements due to:

  • Small structures
  • Low X-ray yield
  • Strong topography
  • Beam sensitivity
  • Non-conductivity (sample preparation not allowed)

This workshop addresses these difficulties to achieve quantitative microanalysis without compromise.

Turn poor spectra into high-resolution mapping:

  • Imagine transforming your noisy spectrum into detailed elemental maps!
  • The workshop will discuss techniques to enhance spectral quality and spatial resolution.

Speed up measurements and improve detection limits:

  • Even if you work with “EDS-ready” samples, faster measurements and better statistics are valuable.
  • Improved detection limits can lead to more accurate results.

Workshop Highlights:

The workshop will showcase solutions for mastering EDS analysis at low kV (accelerating voltage) and low probe current.

  • Expect to see impressive spatial resolution measurements on FEG-SEM as small as 2 nm on electron-transparent samples and as small as 9 nm on bulk samples.
  • Learn strategies to overcome common hurdles, including surface charge accumulation, shadowing, low signal counts, and high noise levels.
  • Explore features on highly topographic samples: investigate cracks and trenches, resolve powder particles without shadowing, enjoy crisp elemental images of biological 3D objects like bristles, stings, or pores.

This workshop offers valuable insights for researchers and practitioners in the field of EDS analysis and comprises presentations and live demonstrations at the microscope.

Lunch will be provided to workshop attendees.
