Bruker BioSpin

Dr. Jimmy Yuk is a research scientist in Business Development for Bruker BioSpin.  Dr. Yuk’s research interest is in metabolomics and screening using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR).  He has developed various analytical methods and published publications with academic and industry leaders in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, natural products and the environmental chemistry.  His two primary interests are to understand the chemical complexity in (1) natural products (extracts or commercial products) to tackle various questions that pertain to quality control and quality assessment and (2) biofluids to the evaluate external response on an organism’s metabolic function.  Dr. Yuk is involved in various professional affiliations such as the Metabolomics Society, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) and a member of the statistical committee for analytical methods for the Association of Analytical Chemistry (AOAC). Dr. Yuk obtained his B.Sc in Biological Chemistry at the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Toronto. During this time he obtained work experience in pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and academic laboratories that allowed him expand his practical abilities in analytical chemistry, cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry.
