Micro5

MR Microscopy standard bore probe with exchangeable coils and integrated gradients for samples up to 10 mm diameter.

Under optimal sample conditions, this SB probe can capture images with a resolution of up to 10x10x10 µm³. It can be adapted to all Bruker vertical magnets and is perfectly suited for applications in the sample range from 0.5 to 10 mm.

The Micro5 probe can also be used as a 3-axis diffusion probe to increase the gradient strength in one direction. It is particularly useful to investigate anisotropic diffusion.

Applications

The Micro5 probe is typically used to study mineral or geologic samples, polymers, tablet dissolution kinetics, plants and seeds, bone or tissue biopsy samples, and small insects.

Pore Size Distribution Measurement Using NMR

Measuring and characterizing the porous structure of porous medias is critical for optimized utilization of porous material. Gas adsorption-desorption and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) are commonly used methods to measure pore size distributions, but they can potentially alter the structure of the material as they require drying the material and introducing probe molecules at high pressures. In contrast, NMR methods are non-destructive and can be less time-consuming, allowing for in-situ observation of the solvent of interest.

Fly Meets Microcoils - A Magnetic Resonance Microscopy Investigation of Drosophilae

The fruit fly, i.e., Drosophila, is a model organism used extensively in medicine and biology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and localized spectroscopy (MRS) are powerful and well established methods to investigate the structure, metabolism or dynamics of organisms.

2 – 4 mm Solenoid coil. The samples must be placed horizontally in this type of rf coils.
5 or 10 mm single tuned saddle coil or a 5 or 8 mm double tuned coil. In this case the sample can be changed using the Bruker BST sample transfer system.
