Sugar Cane

The worlds demand for sugar drives the sugarcane agriculture. Sugarcane accounts for 80% of the world sugar production.

FT-NIR spectroscopy is a powerful analytical technique which allows the accurate and non-destructive analysis not only of sugar cane, but also of sugars and sugar-based products. The analysis is carried out in approximately 10 seconds without any sample preparation, making FT-NIR an ideal technique to be applied in QA/QC laboratories of the sugar industry.

The Bruker FT-NIR systems can be used to analyse incoming cane as well as factory streams including mixed juice, syrup, clear juice, molasses, and massecuites. Parameters analysed include pol, brix, fructose, glucose, sucrose, ash and dry solids.

Other applications include the analysis of sugarcane-derived bioethanol.
