Overview

Recognizing the importance of cellular metabolism and the complexity of cell-cell heterogeneity, SpaceM has emerged as a promising technology with high potential for investigating single-cell metabolomics. SpaceM is expected to grant broad access to single-cell metabolomics, enabling investigations across diverse cellular models. Additionally, addressing the challenge of reproducibility, we present HT-SpaceM, a high-throughput method showcasing robust reproducibility in identifying metabolites in 10 cell lines, highlighting the promise of the SpaceM method in understanding cellular metabolism and disease.

Speaker

Shawn Owens, Ph.D., Imaging Mass Spectrometrist, SpaceM, BioInnovation Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark

Shawn began his mass spectrometry imaging journey over 10 years ago, at the University of California- Santa Barbara- where he earned his PhD. With his degree in hand, he began a journey that led him through roles in industry- first at Bruker for nearly 5 years, followed by a year at BASF in New York. Eager to explore new horizons, Shawn embarked on a transformative journey in a startup, joining SpaceM in Copenhagen, Denmark- where he assumed the role of R&D Team Leader and Mass Spectrometrist, a role he has held for the past 18 months.
