Antibody-based PET/MRI combines highly specific molecular imaging with detailed brain anatomy, enabling more accurate diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment monitoring in neurological diseases. Its clinical application is currently limited by the challenge of delivering antibodies across the blood–brain barrier.

The webinar will provide an overview of the latest advances in antibody-based PET/MRI for brain imaging, with a particular focus on quantitative imaging and kinetic modelling. The session will discuss the development of novel antibody-based tracers, strategies to overcome the blood-brain barrier, and their applications in neuro-oncology and neurodegenerative diseases. Emphasis will be placed on the added value of quantitative PET biomarkers for understanding the kinetics of antibody-based radiotracers and characterizing target expression in vivo.

Pablo Aguiar Fernandez, PhD

Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, CIMUS, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Pablo Aguiar is a Senior Researcher at CIMUS and Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and an internationally recognized expert in brain PET/MRI quantification. With more than 20 years of experience in both preclinical and clinical PET imaging, his research focuses on developing quantitative PET methods, kinetic modelling, and new antibody-based PET approaches for neuroimaging. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in quantitative PET imaging, including leading journals such as EJNMMI, JNM, Neuroimage, Nature Comm, JAMA, JAMA Neurology, and Journal of Controlled Release. He founded Qubiotech, a successful imaging software company whose clinical PET/MRI quantification platform is currently implemented in more than 50 hospitals across Europe. He is a member of the EANM Neuroimaging Committee, where he contributes to the development of European guidelines for brain PET imaging in neurological disorders.

Bruker NMI Applications Scientist

Siddesh holds a PhD from the University of Groningen, where he developed novel PET/SPECT tracers for CXCR4 imaging. He later joined as a research scientist at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and A*STAR Singapore, focusing on molecular imaging probes, imaging biomarkers, and multimodal preclinical imaging technologies, including PET/SPECT, MRI, and CT.
