From the moment I joined Bruker in 2000, fresh from earning my PhD at the University of Vermont, I knew I had found my true calling. My journey began with a deep fascination for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, which I discovered while researching inorganic polymers during my PhD program. I volunteered as the facility manager of the NMR for the Chemistry department, honing my NMR skills. This experience perfectly prepared me for my current role at Bruker as an NMR Applications Scientist. I had always wondered what I wanted to do “when I grew up,” but I found my calling in training and helping others with spectroscopy problems and encouraging researchers to leverage the power of NMR.

Upon joining Bruker, I quickly realized the vast potential of NMR tools and applications in both academic research and industry. I traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world, training customers, attending conferences, and developing new skills. I was consistently impressed by Bruker’s commitment to customer support and development. I was encouraged to create new materials and training programs tailored to customer needs, rather than simply teaching what Bruker wanted to teach. My interactions with customers highlighted areas where new tools were needed, and Bruker supported me in developing these tools. This led to my auxiliary role as Product Manager, where I received additional training and guidance, learning a great deal about scientific developments within a business context.

I am currently leading a team of Applications Scientists, encouraging them to grow as I have grown – by connecting with customers, listening to their needs, and finding ways Bruker can support them. By emphasizing the importance of exceptional customer support, we not only strengthen our relationships with existing customers but also attract new ones. This approach is crucial for expanding Bruker’s customer base and driving revenue growth. My role directly impacts the company by fostering a customer-centric culture that enhances our market reputation and ensures long-term success. Together, we are building a foundation for sustained excellence and innovation.
