For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated and fixated by the concept of processes – taking one thing and then transforming into another. My excitement of finishing something was only exceeded by the rush that I felt when I improved the process that yielded it. I would find myself inexplicably drawn towards the idea of continuous improvement and I would find myself applying the concept to every process and place I could.

When I attended college, I began to home in on how I wanted to apply this passion through personal and professional pursuits. I found that I was attracted to roles in the medical device and life science industries. I knew that working in these fields would allow me to feel like I was making a meaningful contribution. Over the next few years, I worked through numerous roles building up both my skills and my experiences, learning things such as the Toyota Production System and Lean Six Sigma.

At my previous company, I was able to pursue my passion of continuous improvement – running numerous Kaizen events and obtaining my Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. When my company was acquired by Bruker, I found that I was not only encouraged to continue my previous pursuit but was also provided even more support and resources to do so. As a production supervisor for an instrument manufacturing line, I was expecting that my role and impact at Bruker would be very limited. In truth, I have found it to be the exact opposite. I have been able to pursue my passion of developing both processes and people. I am not only empowered to engage others in continuous improvement discussions but also enabled to foster an environment that produces both instruments and individuals that are equally awe-inspiring.
