Our business

We are a developer, manufacturer and distributor of high-performance scientific instruments and analytical and diagnostic solutions that enable our customers to explore life and materials at microscopic, molecular and cellular levels. Many of our products are used to detect, measure and visualize structural characteristics of chemical, biological and industrial material samples.

Our products and solutions address the rapidly evolving needs of a diverse array of customers in life science research, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, applied markets, cell biology, clinical research, microbiology, in-vitro diagnostics, nanotechnology and materials science research.

Our technology platforms include magnetic resonance technologies, mass spectrometry technologies, gas and liquid chromatography, triple quadrupole mass spectrometry technologies, X-ray technologies, spark-optical emission spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, stylus and optical metrology technology, fluorescence optical microscopy, and infrared and Raman molecular spectroscopy technologies.

Our product portfolio also includes testing solutions used in microbiology and infectious disease diagnostics, including our MALDI Biotyper rapid pathogen identification platform and related test kits, DNA test strips and fluorescence-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology for selected infectious disease applications. We develop, manufacture and distribute a range of field analytical systems for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives, or CBRNE, detection.

We also develop, manufacture and market low temperature superconducting materials and devices based primarily on metallic low temperature superconductors. Our corporate headquarters are located in Billerica, Massachusetts. We maintain major technical and manufacturing centers in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia, and have sales offices located throughout the world.

Business Segments

We have four operating segments, Bruker BioSpin Group, Bruker CALID Group, Bruker Scientific Instruments (BSI) NANO Segment and Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (BEST). We have three reportable segments, BSI Life Science, BSI NANO, and BEST. For financial reporting purposes, the Bruker BioSpin and Bruker CALID Groups are aggregated into the BSI Life Science reportable segment because they have similar economic characteristics, production processes, service offerings, types and classes of customers, methods of distribution and regulatory environments.

Over our four operating segments, Bruker BioSpin Group, Bruker CALID Group, Bruker Scientific Instruments (BSI) Nano and Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (EST), we have a vast range of products and technology platforms to support almost any application. Our technologies include magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, gas and liquid chromatography, triple quadrupole mass spectrometry, X-ray, spark-optical emission spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, stylus and optical metrology, fluorescence optical microscopy, and infrared and Raman molecular spectroscopy.

Bruker BioSpin Group

The Bruker BioSpin Group designs, manufactures, and distributes instruments based on magnetic resonance technology, including our world-class nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometers. The Group also creates leading single and multiple modality preclinical imaging systems using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic particle imaging (MPI) technologies.

Bruker BioSpin’s academic and government research, industrial, and pharma customers benefit from NMR’s unique ability to determine the structure, dynamics, and function of specific molecules. It has particular applications in structural proteomics, drug discovery, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and production, and the food and materials science fields.

Make MR More Relevant

Bruker CALID Group

Our Bruker CALID Group comprises the Bruker Daltonics and Bruker Optics Divisions.

Bruker Daltonics primarily designs, manufactures, and distributes pioneering mass spectrometry (MS) instruments, such as matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF), ion trap mass spectrometry (ITMS), magnetic resonance mass spectrometry (MRMS) and liquid chromatography (LC)-MS. These technologies can be integrated into analytical workflows in existing and emerging life science, chemical, and applied markets.

Together with industry-leading MALDI-TOF technology, Bruker Daltonics provides its customers with molecular diagnostic solutions for microbiology and infectious disease diagnostics, helping microbiologists tackle the most challenging organisms in human and veterinary clinical diagnostic and food microbiology settings.

Bruker Optics manufactures and distributes research, analytical, and process analysis instruments and solutions based on infrared (IR) and Raman molecular spectroscopy technologies, including Fourier transform (FT-IR) and near infrared (NIR). These products are used by customers in industry, government, and academia for a wide range of applications and solutions for analysis, quality control, and process analysis applications.

Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (EST)

Bruker Energy and Supercon Technologies (Bruker EST) is the world leader in the production of superconducting wires.

For more than 50 years, our high performance superconductors have met the needs of healthcare, academic and industrial organizations worldwide, helping drive new discoveries in the clinical and pharmaceutical sectors, including the breakthrough technology of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning, advanced materials science, and sustainable energies.
Our superconducting wires carry up to 100 times the current of conventional copper wires, enabling the advancement of technologies such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) whose performance requires exceptionally high stability and low energy consumption.

Our strong focus on research and development, supported by the long Bruker heritage in delivering innovative technologies, has strengthened our portfolio to support our customers in pushing the boundaries of technology, paving the way to new possibilities in advanced research applications.
