Our business

We are a developer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-performance scientific instruments and analytical and diagnostic solutions that enable our customers to explore life and materials at microscopic, molecular, and cellular levels. Many of our products are used to detect, measure, and visualize structural characteristics of chemical, biological, and industrial material samples.

Our products and solutions address the rapidly evolving needs of a diverse array of customers in life science research, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, applied markets, cell biology, clinical research, microbiology, in-vitro diagnostics, nanotechnology, and materials science research.

Our technology platforms include magnetic resonance technologies, preclinical imaging, mass spectrometry technologies, gas and liquid chromatography, triple quadrupole mass spectrometry technologies, X-ray technologies, spark-optical emission spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, stylus and optical metrology technology, fluorescence optical microscopy, infrared and Raman molecular spectroscopy technologies, as well as laboratory automation and software solutions.

Our product portfolio also includes testing solutions used in microbiology and infectious disease diagnostics, including our MALDI Biotyper rapid pathogen identification platform and related test kits, DNA test strips, fluorescence-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) solutions for selected infectious disease applications.

We develop, manufacture, and distribute a range of field analytical systems for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE) detection.

We also develop, manufacture, and market low-temperature superconducting materials and devices based primarily on metallic low-temperature superconductors.

Our corporate headquarters are located in Billerica, Massachusetts. We maintain major technical and manufacturing centers in Europe and North America, and have sales offices located throughout the world.

Business Segments

We have four operating segments: Bruker Biosystems Group, Bruker Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics (BMID) Group, Bruker Scientific Instruments (BSI) NANO Segment, and Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (BEST).

Our technologies include magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, gas and liquid chromatography, triple quadrupole mass spectrometry, X-ray, spark-optical emission spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, stylus and optical metrology, fluorescence optical microscopy, and infrared and Raman molecular spectroscopy.

Bruker Biosystems Group

The Bruker Biosystems Group combines complementary capabilities in magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, preclinical imaging, laboratory automation, software, and application expertise to support customers across discovery, translational research, applied analysis, and quality control.

Our portfolio includes world-class nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometers, leading single and multiple modality preclinical imaging systems (MRI, PET, SPECT, CT, and MPI), and pioneering mass spectrometry (MS) instruments such as MALDI-TOF, ion trap (ITMS), magnetic resonance (MRMS), and LC-MS. It also includes research, analytical, and process analysis solutions based on infrared (IR) and Raman molecular spectroscopy, including FT-IR and NIR.

Academic and government research, industrial, and pharma customers rely on these technologies to determine the structure, dynamics, and function of molecules, with applications in structural proteomics, drug discovery, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and production, chemical and applied markets, and food and materials science.

Bruker Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics Group

The Bruker Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics (BMID) Group provides integrated solutions for microbial identification, outbreak analysis, sepsis and bloodstream infection diagnostics, molecular testing, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.

Bruker Scientific Instruments (BSI) Nano Segment

Our BSI Nano Segment comprises Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy Divisions. It provides customers in academic and governmental institutions, life science, materials and applied industries with the tools to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules.

Bruker AXS designs, manufactures, and distributes advanced X-ray instruments, including a product portfolio based on X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray micro computed tomography (μCT), as well as spark optical emission spectroscopy systems (S-OES).

Bruker Nano Analytics manufactures and markets analytical tools for electron microscopes, including energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometers (EDS), electron backscatter diffraction systems (EBSD) and μCT accessories, as well as mobile and bench top micro X-ray fluorescence (μXRF), total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectrometers (TXRF) and handheld, portable and mobile X-ray fluorescence (HMP-XRF) spectrometry instruments.

Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology solutions include atomic force microscopy instrumentation (AFM) and non-contact nanometer resolution solution topography through white light interferometry and stylus profilometry. In addition, the division manufacturers and markets automated X-ray metrology, automated AFM defect-detection and photomask repair and cleaning equipment for semiconductor process control.

Fluorescence Microscopy provides advanced optical fluorescence microscopy instruments with multi-photon, multipoint scanning confocal 3D super-resolution, light-sheet modalities for studies in life science applications.

Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies (EST)

Bruker Energy and Supercon Technologies (Bruker EST) is the world leader in the production of superconducting wires.

For more than 50 years, our high performance superconductors have met the needs of healthcare, academic and industrial organizations worldwide, helping drive new discoveries in the clinical and pharmaceutical sectors, including the breakthrough technology of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning, advanced materials science, and sustainable energies.
Our superconducting wires carry up to 100 times the current of conventional copper wires, enabling the advancement of technologies such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) whose performance requires exceptionally high stability and low energy consumption.

Our strong focus on research and development, supported by the long Bruker heritage in delivering innovative technologies, has strengthened our portfolio to support our customers in pushing the boundaries of technology, paving the way to new possibilities in advanced research applications.
