Bruker Introduces Novel NMR Technologies and Lab Productivity Software at ENC 2020

New Magnetic Resonance Technologies and Applications Open New Frontiers for Biological, Chemical and Materials Research

BALTIMORE, Maryland – March 9, 2020 – Continuing its mission to bring enabling magnetic resonance capabilities to customers, Bruker highlights new life-science research tools and innovative lab software solutions at the 61st Experimental Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Conference (ENC). The new technologies and products provide new capabilities as well as enhanced workflows for NMR spectroscopy research and analysis.

Dr. Falko Busse, Bruker BioSpin Group President, stated: "Through close collaborations with customers, we develop technologies to enable scientific innovations by the NMR community. By combining our high-performance instruments with new workflow software and service offerings, we enhance our customers’ productivity and expand their range of compelling NMR applications."

New NMR Research Technologies

Fast 65 kHz MAS at low temperatures: Bruker announces the world’s fastest low temperature magic angle spinning (MAS) probe for dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) NMR up to 900 MHz. Using a 0.7 mm MAS rotor, we can now achieve up to 65 kHz rotation speed at 100 Kelvin sample temperature for enhanced solid-state NMR resolution on complex biomolecules and materials, including membrane proteins, or protein aggregates implicated in neurodegenerative diseases.

New 800 MHz CP/MAS CryoProbe for material science research: With a two-channel HX configuration and a 3.2.mm rotor, this novel CP/MAS CryoProbe© is optimized for materials research and solid-state NMR experiments on low abundance and quadrupolar nuclei. It follows the recent introduction of a 600 MHz HCN triple-resonance BioSolids MAS CryoProbe, and both offer a three-fold boost in sensitivity on X-nuclei and an order of magnitude faster acquisition to enable experiments that were previously out of reach.

New Scientific Software Solutions

Deep Learning in TopSpin® Software for Data Analysis: Bruker is incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) Deep Learning capabilities into its TopSpin NMR software to improve signal detection in proton NMR spectra. A deep neural network was trained on two million NMR spectra that were simulated with artificial noise and other artifacts from publicly available compounds. More accurate detection of NMR signals enables easier and faster automatic spectral analysis.

MGears and Stereofitter by MestreLab: MGears is a modular software suite for automated workflows on analytical data. It enables simpler and faster automation and includes tools for databasing analytical data and reporting complex results. MGears has consistently achieved 80% productivity gains for users, whilst avoiding mistakes and supporting standardization.

StereoFitter is an advanced tool for 3D conformational and configurational analysis using experimental constraints from NMR spectra. Designed for chemists and researchers from different fields with questions about stereochemistry, StereoFitter contains all the tools needed to derive relative configuration and conformation in solution for small molecules by NMR.

New Service Solutions

Enhanced AVANCE NEO Systems with AutoDiagnose™: Automatic calibration for the Intelligent NMR Spectrometer (AutoCalibrate™) determines optimal settings for parameters, logs results and monitors changes. Further enhanced AutoDiagnose™ remote monitoring now streamlines NMR workflows, increases system protection and can provide expert supervision, thereby enabling customers to focus less on the technology and more on their molecular analysis or research.
