Stents

Bruker provides the quantifiable metrology necessary to keep stent technology safe and affordable.

Because heart stents are implanted medical devices crucial to the long-term health of patients, quality control of these devices must be extremely high. Critical parameters include surface roughness, widths, feature shape, and radius of curvature of the devices. With the addition of drug coatings on stents, the uniformity and thickness of the coatings must be ensured to guarantee proper drug delivery.

Bruker’s 3D optical microscopes are used extensively to measure the dimensions, roughness, and coating characteristics of heart stents during the development and production of these devices. ISO-compliant analyses, self-calibration of the system, and high levels of automation ensure results are accurate, benefiting both manufacturers and end users.
