ETTLINGEN, Germany ─ November 01, 2021 ─ Bruker today announces that the new RoadRunner™ explosives trace detector (ETD) for airport passenger and baggage security screening. Presently the only handheld ETD instrument to meet the protocol set by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC)1, the RoadRunner offers fast and accurate screening capabilities in an easy to use, handheld design.
The RoadRunner is an ETD that offers the high detection performance of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) in a user-friendly handheld format. Utilizing the patented, non-radioactive HEPITM-source, the unique design of the RoadRunner offers excellent trace detection capabilities for explosives and narcotics to facilitate rapid screening in a certified, fully compliant system. It incorporates the patented CHIRPTM modulation technology that provides the sensitivity of benchtop ETDs in a handheld design, whilst maintaining a low false alarm rate. The RoadRunner features an intuitive ‘traffic light’ user interface and automatic calibration to minimize the total cost of training, maintenance and operation.
