X-ray Fluorescence (XRF)

S2 POLAR

Energy-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) for the Petrochemical Industry
Multi-element
A true Multi-element Analyzer, for Sulfur and more
The S2 POLAR is a true multi-element analyzer and combines the performance of several single-element analyzers in a one-does-it-all powerful benchtop instrument.
≤ 10 ppm
Sulfur in Diesel and Gasoline
10 ppm S is the maximum S level allowed in automotive fuels in many countries around the world. The S2 POLAR enables fast and easy monitoring of all sulfur levels in refineries, from Ultra-Low Sulfur (ULS) fuels in the lowest ppm range up to % in crude oils.
D7220
ASTM D7220, as well to D4294 and ISO 13032
The S2 POLAR is fully compliant to internationally important standards for petrochemical products. These standards are available as pre-installed Ready-to-analyze ‘One Button’ solutions.
S2 POLAR EDXRF spectrometer

The S2 POLAR masters all requirements for S analysis from diesel to crude oils. This also includes continuous process control of higher sulfur levels in refineries as well as norm-compliant Ultra-Low Sulfur (ULS) analysis of final products.

The S2 POLAR complies with the international S norms such as ASTM D7220, D4294, and ISO 13032.

With its capability to measure multiple elements simultaneously, including important elements in process control such as Ni, V, Fe and CI, the S2 POLAR is well suited for the analytical demands of refineries in one single instrument.

The S2 POLAR is also well suited for the norm-compliant analysis of additives in lubricating oils according to ASTM D6481 and ASTM D7751 that includes the elements Mg, P, S, Cl, Ca, Zn, and Mo. Furthermore this also includes the analysis of elements in edible oils or palm oils.

Safe Liquid Sample Handling with SampleCare™

Highest instrument uptime is crucial for the operation. This is ensured with Bruker’s SampleCare technology. SampleCareTM prevents leakages of liquid samples and protects important system components. This guarantees maximum instrument availability.

For the mentioned petrochemical standards are pre-installed Ready-to analyze solutions available. These S2 POLAR ‘One Button’ solutions minimize instrument set-up time and lead to an economic and cost-effective element analysis and pay back immediately.

S2 POLAR Applications

Optimize your Refinery Processes – from Crude Oil to Final Automotive Fuels

Expensive efforts are required to remove sulfur at various fractions in the refinery process, especially when it comes to very low sulfur levels. Accurate and precise monitoring of all these sulfur levels in the refinery leads to cost-effectiveness and pays back immediately. This also includes norm-compliant ultra-low sulfur analysis of final products.

The S2 POLAR complies with the international S norms such as:

  • ASTM D7220, D4294
  • ISO 13032, 20847, 8754
  • IP 336, 496, 532
  • JIS K2541-4

The S2 POLAR is also well suited for process control tasks in refineries such as the monitoring of Ni, V, Fe (ASTM D8252) and Cl (ASTM D4929).

S2 POLAR Applications

Oils – According to ASTM D6481, D7751

The S2 POLAR is also able to cover the analysis of additives in lubricating oils. This includes the norm-compliant analysis according to ASTM D7751 and D6481 with the elements Mg, P, S, Cl, Ca, Zn, and Mo. Furthermore, the S2 POLAR is also suitable for the analysis of elements in edible oils or palm oils.

S2 POLAR Applications

Edible Oils – Fast and Reliable Control of Refinery Processes

Fast and reliable process control is essential in both edible oil refineries and biofuel refineries. Key elements to monitor are P, S, and Cl as these elements have a major impact on process efficiency and final product quality. Other elements of interest are K, Ca, Fe, Ni, and Cu. For all these elements, the S2 POLAR provides reliable results within minutes.
