FluoroType® STI is a syndromic panel, powered by the pioneering LiquidArray® technology, which covers seven pathogens using nine targets in a single well. Providing next generation multiplexing, it enables the detection and differentiation of the most prevalent bacterial and parasitic pathogens causing major sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Detection in a single well:
The most common bacterial STIs are caused by Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG).
FluoroType® STI offers dual target detection for confidence in reporting the hard-to-detect pathogen NG as well as for CT.
The accurate diagnosis of NG requires the detection of two independent genes to return a positive result – whereas the detection of a single gene may confirm the presence of other Neisseria species. This would support antimicrobial stewardship by prompting further analysis for definitive confirmation of a positive diagnosis before recommending a course of treatment. The detection of nine targets in a single well supports confident STI reporting and is powered by LiquidArray®.
LiquidArray® from Bruker is a next generation multiplexing PCR-based technology. It is underpinned by the unique features of the FluoroCycler® XT – Bruker’s high performance thermocycler. With precise temperature control and no optical cross-talk or colour compensation, assays are designed with a high number of targets per optical channel. LiquidArray® assays are automatically interpreted and reported providing advanced multiplex results at a glance in a familiar, easy to use format.
LiquidArray® brings next generation multiplexing for infectious disease diagnostics to the routine clinical microbiology laboratory.
Nucleic acid extraction from urine and genital swabs is achieved with the GenoXtract® system, in combination with dedicated extraction kits, providing high quality for optimal PCR performance.
Using LiquidArray® technology, FluoroType® STI runs on the FluoroCycler® XT. The integrated and user-friendly FluoroSoftware® XT-IVD generates a detailed report, together with a results at a glance overview. The output is an easy-to-read analysis visualization for rapid interpretation of results.
The end-to-end workflow for the routine clinical laboratory is one in a range of complete sample-to-result solutions available from Bruker.
