Advanced Translational Proteomics: Paving the Way for Supporting Precision Medicine Research

Driven by the latest technological advances, including trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS), LC–MS-based proteomics now delivers the reliability, robustness, depth, and throughput required to address major challenges in translational research and advance personalized medicine.

This seminar will explore how high-quality proteomic data can be translated into actionable biological and clinical research insights to support translational investigations. Through complementary perspectives spanning immunopeptidomics and the sensitive identification of endogenous neoantigens from limited clinical material, biofluid and plasma proteomics for biomarker discovery in rare diseases, and deep proteome profiling of tumor tissues, including formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples, the session will illustrate how advanced proteomics can reveal disease mechanisms, support cohort stratification in research studies, and support future translational and clinical research efforts.

Featured Presentations:

Continuous Innovation: Revealing What Lies Beyond the Amino Acid Sequence

Proteomics offer a distinct advantage over genomics and transcriptomics by directly measuring proteins, the dynamic molecular effectors of biological function. Yet, traditional hardware and software constraints have often restricted analysis to the most readily accessible information: proteins are typically digested into peptides to match the optimal mass-to-charge range of mass spectrometers, complex post-translational modifications may remain unresolved, and limited throughput can constrain cohort size.

This session will showcase innovative approaches that extract more actionable biological insight from proteins and their molecular diversity.

Our speakers will demonstrate how ultrafast proteome profiling can be achieved with accessible instrumentation and how glycopeptide profiling and characterization, together with top-down proteomics, are moving beyond proof-of-concept studies toward applications in complex, biologically relevant samples. By revealing post-translational modifications and intact proteoforms that conventional bottom-up workflows may overlook, these advances are expanding the discovery potential of proteomics.
