Analysis of Polymorphs in Solid Dosage Form using Raman Imaging

Fast Raman imaging is considered a promising method for evaluating polymorphs in solid dosage forms (SDFs). Furthermore, Raman imaging is a powerful tool to analyze, for example, an SDF that showed a decreased dissolution rate after stability testing. Observations revealed a crystal-to-crystal phase transition in some of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) particles, with the transition appearing to initiate at the particle‘s outer layer and progressively extend toward the center.
