The Toxtyper Screening Solution in the Forensic Lab

This webinar took place on July 27, 2017

Webinar Overview

The current forensic toxicology market is challenged by the rapid emergence of new psychoactive substances, which make it necessary to develop comprehensive and specific screening techniques. The Toxtyper is providing screening and confirmation in one analysis and can be used as a toxicology ”push button solution” with ready to use LC-MSn methods. The Toxtyper screening workflows cover drugs and drugs of abuse (DOA) in various specimens such as serum, plasma, urine, and oral fluids.

Confident identifications are based on a comprehensive full-scan MSn library search using a manually curated spectral reference library of nearly 1000 compounds, specific smaller sub libraries for Synthetic Cannabinoids, Psychotropic Drugs or screening by the large Maurer/Wissenbach/Weber library holding 4500 drugs and their metabolites.

Key Learnings

  • Principles of ion trap MS
  • Toxtyper workflow
  • Examples from routine forensic cases
