Introduction to NMR Spectrometer

Short description:

  • Introduction to latest NMR technology ranging from Benchtop 80 MHz to High Resolution 300 MHz - 1200 MHz NMR spectrometer.
  • Brief introduction to the “new normal” of NMR experiments, what can be done within 1- hour? 
  • NMR concepts and its key components of NMR Spectrometer including Magnets, Electronic Console, Probes are discussed. The importance of Lock and Shimming as mandatory steps in NMR acquisition are explained.

Kwanchai is currently Director of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy division, Bruker BioSpin Group, responsible for South East Asia and Taiwan region. He started his professional life as Analytical Systems Engineer with Bruker BioSpin AG Thailand in 1997, covering mainly Nuclear Magnetic Resonance as well as other analytical instrumentations. During 2013-2016, Kwanchai served in a hybrid role, as Regional Director for Service and Life-Cycle Support, covering Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, and BBIO product management responsibilities. With his 24 years experience in Magnetic Resonance technology, Kwanchai developed his technical expertise and business knowledge, working his way up to be in partnership with customers through innovative instrumentation and trustworthy services.

Short description:

  • Provide a brief insight on the importance of NMR in various fields namely Academic, Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Industry, Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, Biomacromolecular, Biotechnology and Polymer chemistry.
  • NMR experiments for pure, mixture and isotopically labeled samples including 1D, 2D and nD experiments.
  • Brief tour to new corporate Bruker Website 2021 and how to get the Free TopSpin Academia License.

  2. TopSpin 4 (2D processing)

Short description:

  • Basic 1 D processing (Fourier Transform, Apodization, Phase Correction, Baseline Correction, Spectral Calibration, Peak Picking, Integration) Demo and hand-on – Bruker example data
  • Basic 2D processing (Contour level, Phasing, Spectral Calibration, External Projection) Demo and hand-on – Bruker example data

Bruker NMR Application Scientist

Chin-Hoe Teh obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from University of Sains Malaysia. He joined Bruker Malaysia as NMR Application Scientist in 2011. He supports South-East Asia region and provides the assistance to the customers especially who are new in the natural products-plant metabolomics fields. His expertise is with different latest software solutions both for pure compound and mixture to drive many possible NMR applications into the easier and better. He is part of NMR method and application development.

Chin-Hoe's NMR application interests include metabolomics, quantitative NMR and fast NMR technique.
